I’m Blogging in real time now.

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

The first thing I did with my new BlackBerry was sign up for a Twitter account.

I’ve been sent the invite about 3 times now and never wanted to register because I didn’t want to have to twitter from my PC. “Still Sitting at Computer” doesn’t sound like a very exciting post to me.  Texting on the go is clearly what this was made for.

I told Tashia to sign up at the same time as me so we could be twitter buddies.

Check out  the top right hand corner of my blog page where I’ve added my Twitter feed. It looks good, works well and it perfectly fills up that gap between the header and the sidebar that was there for so long now.  I stretched out the background Image to create a good spot for it to sit.

All ‘n all. I’m very happy with the BB. Props Mike. I’ve sent more SMS messages in the last 4 days then I have in the past 3 years.

Can’t have a Picnic without a few Bugs

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

There’s a fantastic cliff to the east of Skyline from the top of Camp Fortune. I found this place a while back as I was hiking in through forests. Ever since then, I’ve wanted to come back to this exact spot for a picnic.

We hiked up and across the hills then through the trails to this bench overlooking Gatineau park.

The chair lift at the ski hill was running for the mountain bikers, so we got to take a scenic ride down the hill on our way back from lunch.

It was great weekend of beaches, drinks & fun.

There were lots of friends, some from way back in the day, as well as a few new friend that will hopefully be coming back for a long time to come.

Mountain Climber

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

I have now completed my set of GeoCaches located on top of the Mt Ste Marie, ski hills.

Friends and I hiked up Coat Vanier to see the view from the lookout point. While we were there I took some time to hide “Hill Climber”. This cache matches with “Mountain Climber” which I placed near the top of Cheval Blanc last year.

Hill Climber will be the easier of the 2 caches for hikers to get to. Mountain Climber, which only 5 people have found since last August is an entire days hike through 4 feet high brush with no visible paths. However hiking both of these hills are well worth the effort. The views are fantastic from the peeks.

It was so hot on the way up. The only thing that kept us going was knowing that when we got back down to the bottom there was a cold lake there waiting for us.

When you’re ready to go climbing, take a look at the GeoCache web site for my MSM caches:

Coat Vanier is a 1000 foot vertical with a peek Altitude of 1600

Weekend in Montreal

Monday, July 7th, 2008

The Server North team was in Montreal last week adding 3 additional servers to our newest colocation facility. This was the first time I had been to the Canix building and I was very impressed with the professional, top of the line site.

The cascading row of Sun Servers in the Server North rack looks very impressive. We’ve gone quite far since the beginnings in our first rack in the small Toronto facility.

It was nice to be in Montreal during Quebec city’s 400th birthday. Between that and Canada day I was feeling very patriotic that week.

The food in Montreal is just outstanding. I did some shopping on Saint Catherine street. I was disappointed that the H&M store was still under construction. It would have made Danielle so jealous if I came home with a shopping bag from that store. Mike and I next toured harbor front before heading for home.
